Overview

The AVP of Licensure oversees and directs departmental activities to ensure quality services both internal and external.   Ensures facility compliance with all state and federal license, certification, and registration requirements.  Works directly with senior leadership on updates to regulatory requirements and licensure and certification

Essential Functions

  • Provides strategic direction to the Licensure and Certification Department to achieve goals and vision of the company and the day-to-day operations.
  • Coordinates and ensures compliance of locations requirements including National Accreditation and Deeming Authorities, CMS, State, and other regulatory agencies
  • Stays current on all applicable regulatory changes and identify/communicate impact on company’s operations.
  • Provides advice, guidance and counsel to senior leadership regarding licensure and certification matters.
  • Leads departmental planning meetings and provides input relating to department needs and plans to support strategic business plans/changes.
  • Oversees reporting related to company’s regulated businesses’ licenses/certifications, medical waste/laboratory registrations and any other required licenses as assigned.
  • Communicates with state agency staff to report changes in local offices’ management, address, services and geographical coverage areas; providing documentation (i.e., resumes) to verify local offices’ management qualifications meet state/federal regulatory standards.
  • As needed, acts as a liaison to state/federal agency officials. Provides information/documentation required to open service delivery offices, expand geographical service areas, etc. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

About You

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations:

  • Strong understanding of the licensure and certification process necessary to maintain agencies certification
  • Thorough knowledge state and local guidelines governing the certification processes for the company
  • Experience related to codes and requirements of regulatory and accreditation agencies.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Self-driven, with ability to work well under pressure and respond to shifting priorities. Advanced computer skills; Microsoft Office, web-based applications, document management systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to handle complex and/or confidential information
  • Able to handle various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Must have working knowledge of various state and federal regulatory bodies and their processes
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Business or Healthcare Management or related study Juris Doctorate or Paralegal degree/certification preferred.
  • Educational qualifications and certifications may be substituted with relevant professional experience.

 

Experience:

  • Extensive experience (7+ years) in healthcare licensure, regulatory affairs, or healthcare compliance leadership
  • Proven track record of leading multi-state or national licensure and certification programs in a healthcare environment
  • Background in home health, hospice, or post-acute care industries highly preferred
