Overview

We are looking for a Nurse Preceptor to join our team. This position is a part of our New Starts Team.  The RN will travel to markets to train nurses prior to the branch opening.

 

This position is 100% travel.

  • Assess the learning needs of the new nurses and collaborate to determine goals and learning outcomes.
  • Orient new nurses (preceptees) which includes hospice clinical policies and procedures, documentation, technology, compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate the learning experience to allow preceptees to perform competently in their required responsibilities. This is achieved through mentoring, coaching, and role modeling correct behaviors.
  • Plan specific learning experiences to promote the acquisition of new knowledge, skills and abilities required of the job.
  • Provide timely feedback to the preceptee regarding all aspects of the orientation experience
  • Provide clinical skills practice opportunities for preceptees and evaluates and documents correct performance.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations as to when the preceptee is capable of working independently.
  • Perform patient home visits in accordance with physicians orders.
  • Prepare, maintain and submit documentation as required by the Company and/or facility. Advise patients of other services available and makes referrals to other community resources as needed with senior leadership and develops initiatives impacting the sales culture.

About You

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

  • Prior nursing experience acting as a preceptor
  • Ability to mentor, coach and lead peer clinicians
  • People oriented- able to interact and collaborate with others
  • Strong initiative in order to make independent decisions
  • Strong knowledge of clinical skills
  • Good organizational and communication skills and the ability to function with minimal supervision
  • Current CPR certification
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Must have good and regular attendance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 

 

Education/Experience 

  • Diploma, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a clinical setting
  • Prior hospice experience is a plus

 

License/Certification

  • Unencumbered RN license in work state assigned
  • Current CPR certification
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation and liability insurance
